Notes from Haiti:Kathy
January 31st, 2010 by Kathy
  • Problems are big, but i must simply do the next small thing right.
  • People are as desperate for Hope, Compassion and  Honor as they are for rice and beans.
  • The most Powerful commodity any of us  have to give is what is in our Hearts.
  • Food, water, clothes, tents and money given with HONOR  and COMPASSION have the power to heal souls as well as strengthen bodies.
  • This has been a worldwide event, the saving of Haiti. I repeatedly told the Haitian momas and children how the airplanes coming to bring aid were so thick in the sky that some had to be turned back for a while. Haiti the world sees you !
  • I watched strong Haitian Pastors collapse into the arms of missionaries and weep as they finally got to let go of their own sorrow over lost loved ones.
  • I listened to Fransiscot tell the harrowing tale of going back into the shaking house to get his brother and friend only to discover minutes later that Peterson, his younger brother , didn’t make it out alive.
  • I had a frail ten year old girl on the street offer me half of the cookie she had just stood in line an hour to receive.
  • watched the children sleep under the stars, side by side , comfortable on mats , they have each other… yet every single one wanting a mom of their own.
  • Watched an Argentine soldier holding Vidlan, Sherries 15 lb   3  year old…smiling and sharing a bottle of water.
  • The young mom /photographer from New york in her single tent in the middle of the field, brokering food deals for strangers, so food would move off the tarmac and into hungry bellies.
  • Long time Missionaries that went from tent to tent, kneeling down,  hugging, praying, weeping, giving.
  • Money sent so planes can fly and pallets can land and tents be distributed so rain won’t take the remnant of civilization that has survivied the loss of roof and walls.
  • Nurses and Doctors caring for  wounds days deep in infection.  Burns meticulously cleaned and  slathered in silvadene cream, while the screaming child just can’t understand.
  • So many beautiful people Haitian, German, Mexican, Canadian, American, Indian, Austrailian, French, Itailian ….working tirelessly together.
  • There is Hope for our World.  The beauty of our Humanity remains in tact!

Thank you Casey for showing us these testimonies. These things let us know how to pray and but sharp tips on the weapons of the Bride.

It’s so encouraging to hear the impact you and the Lord are making for those in Haiti. Please let me know of needs as they arise, we are open to God’s leading in how we can best help. “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Thanks for being an inspiration for me today in living out this truth.

Thanks for the thoughts Kathy,
It was a privilege and an honor to meet you and the people of Haiti whom you serve out of love and compassion.
Christ is still on the throne, He loves His people and His arm is not to short to save. There is good news for Haiti.
May God strengthen you, and those who serve along side you, with peace and joy in the days to come.
