Hi From Haiti

God Continues to supply !

Today was quite a day for us…receiving MUCH which allows us to distribute MUCH!

The Staff here at Sherries all received tents for themselves and their families, which is so important as virually all of them lost their homes.

One young man approached me tonight and asked me to pray for the rain to hold off.  He said, ”Haiti’s not ready for rain yet.” So we prayed.   This same young man told me how much it meant to him that Mike Nichols and Andrew Waites came to find him when they arrived to make sure he was ok.  This young man had lost much.  He is now working with us as an interpreter / guide  / friend!

Mr. Munford , one of Christian Light’s AMAZING  School teachers, and I rode with the World Vision food distribution coordinator today. He was checking out  areas of the city to make sure everyone had access to food distribution somewhere.  It was great to understand the system and to be able to help others know where to find the food that the larger NGOs are giving out.

On the way home Emory called and Iwas able to intercept him on the way to Dorothy’s place.  We spent time there with some folks from Operation Blessing as they brought Dorothy lots of good stuff for her kids.  They were able to spend time holding babies and filming aspects of the work she is doing there. They had the kids draw pictures and write stories of the quake.  They will be able to use these to raise attention and support for Haiti.

Lots of goods arrived today gallons of water, boxes of rice, tents, blankets, baby food…really good stuff!

Spent time at Quiskaya Chapel looking at their water system and trying to determine is a purification syustem would suit their well.

Mike Eunice continues to amaze us … all the block for the wall is finished, the latrines are built ands ready to have an out-house placed over them,  the shower stalls are complete and tomorrow should be ready to use….

The well on Sherries property is producing much more water as Mike uses it more and more.  He explains that the more it pumps out it makes more room for the water to flow in…pumping out the sand and impurities and the clean water flows in…could preach couldn’t it?

Joette Grimes is playing musical chairs with the kids as they sing “lean on me when you’re not strong.”   She is a wonder of compassion and joy.  and John her son is the go-to guy to get it done.  Thank  God that He worked it out for them to get here.

Mike Little  is here with us as well. Mike is an engineer…this evening one of the neighbors asked me to provide him with a tent.  I could not. Then I thought about it and 20 minutes later after Mike inspected his house and found it to be structurally sound, he joyously moved back in…no longer afraid of the superficial cracks in the stucco.  I could not give him a tent but Mike gave him back his house!

So it grows dark and i am thankful that the day of labor is nearly over…God does what we can not and we cooperate with Him to do what we can..

I am looking forward to a bucket bath and sound sleep in the “star light” hotel!  Thanks to all of you who are making it possible for much needed aid and love to reach this Country .  Please pray for those who work so hard at the Market Place while I am away.

Loving in your names and in the name of Jesus!

Beaver Brooks
